Building Technical Expertise: TEM Conducts Internal Training for Loading Masters
In line with its commitment to operational excellence and continuous professional development, Triputra Energi Megatara (TEM) recently conducted an internal technical training for Loading Masters, focusing on the accurate measurement and calculation of oil quantities on board tankers.
This training was designed to enhance the capability and precision of TEM’s field teams, particularly those involved in fuel transfer and marine operations. The session covered four key technical topics critical to ensuring efficiency and compliance in tanker loading activities:
- Measurement and Calculation of Oil Quantity on Board
The session began with a deep dive into industry-standard procedures for measuring liquid fuel in ship tanks, including the use of manual sounding, temperature measurement, and correction factors to determine accurate volumes. - Oil Quantity Calculation on Tanker Vessels
This module provided participants with a comprehensive understanding of how to convert observed volumes into standard volumes, taking into account temperature, density, and expansion coefficients, which are crucial for accurate reporting and invoicing. - Cargo Measurement and Calculation on Tanker Vessels
Focus was placed on reading tank calibration tables, interpreting ullage and innage readings, and performing volume correction calculations. Emphasis was given to the importance of precise documentation and alignment with international standards. - Interpolation Techniques
The training concluded with practical exercises in interpolation, a mathematical method used to determine values between two known data points—an essential skill when working with tank tables and ensuring exact cargo quantity assessments.
By hosting this in-depth technical session, TEM aims to strengthen internal expertise, minimize discrepancies during loading and unloading operations, and uphold the highest standards of quality control and accountability.
